Hey there and I was talking to a buddy of mine the other day and we were talking about a new Las Vegas hotel and I thought that I should spend some time talking about where to stay when you visit Vegas. If you have read some of my previous stuff then you know that I recommend staying cheap the first few times and gambling at the nicer hotels where you’d like to stay.
Of course, before you head out, you have to have your Las Vegas hotel reservations made ahead of time. I know that once I flew out for a visit without one and I gotta tell you that they were fully booked. The only place that I could find a place to stay for the night was at Mandalay Bay and it cost me alot. I do have to say though, Mandalay Bay is super nice and the beds were really comfortable. But, do a little more planning than I did that time. You’ll save some dollars in the process.
I am big about staying on the strip and while I pay a little more for it, I suppose, I like being where all of the action is and, quite frankly the girls are hotter at the nicer Las Vegas hotels so the view is much better. Not to say there aren’t good looking girls at some of the other establishments like Hooters Hotel Las Vegas, it’s just that the really fine hot chics hang out where the cash is and that is where you can get nicer Las Vegas hotel rooms. If you are lucky enough to get a girl to go back with you, (for free, that is) you’ll also have a super place to enjoy her company with room service and everything. Speaking of room service, I once had room service bring batteries (for toys, lol) and condoms lol. That was some night. And fun too. But, that would be “getting off” the subject, so to speak.
Anyway, your first concern will probably be what kind of Las Vegas hotel rates you are going to get. I know that when I first stayed I stayed at the Luxor and probably paid about $60 bucks a night. Eventually, I got some offers from them and still do to this day. The last that I received was for a special $49 a night. If your travel plans are flexible, go during the week and go when there are no conventions being held, or not as many. It’s all supply and demand. Go when they need the visitors. You’ll automatically start getting a feel for this when you start getting offers for free nights at the Venetian, which I have. At that time, I know it’s got to be slow since I am not a huge gambler although, I am probably above average I guess. It’s also a little cheaper when it’s really hot as well.
Other places like the Wynn, Bellagio Hotel Las Vegas and the Venetian will usualy cost you several hundred a night if they are slow and into the thousands if they are booked. I’ve wanted to stay at the Wynn for quite a while but I just haven’t been able to yet, when I ‘ve got free offers it just seems stupid to do that. I had forgotten something I read today and that was that Steve Wynn started the Mirage Hotel Las Vegas. Even though it looks nice from the outside, and I’ve eaten at the buffet, I haven’t felt the need to stay there. I did have a friend who did and she was very happy with it.
On my last trip out there, my girl and I went to scope out the Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas. The casino was pretty cool as it was in a rounded shape and the table games were kind of below floor level. I wouldn’t stay over there even though I like the rock memorabilia because it’s a tad off the strip.I really prefer staying on the strip, and preferably near the center around Paris Las Vegas because it is so centrally located.
I feel the same way about the Palms Hotel Las Vegas. While it’s definitely worth a visit for the Playboy Club and the Moon, I wouldn’t stay over there the whole time because of the taxi fares to get to the attractions I want to see on the strip. It’s usually a $10-$15 dollar cab ride over there for everything. Same for the Rio. If you are a hotel zombies and don’t leave your resort and hotel, (as we sometimes are) then it’s no big deal. It’s not ideal if you are not though. Virtually any Las Vegas hotel casino you pick on the strip will cost you more but I think you make it up in cab fare getting everywhere.
In the end, my favorite hotel in Las Vegas is still the Venetian. And, each time I visit, I try and make it a point to get my rooms there. If not there, then my second choice is the Paris. I love Bellagio as well, but it’s cooler seeing it from the other side. My favorite thing to do there is dance and it’s always on the list of things to do in Las Vegas if you don’t gamble.
The Fontana Bar and the Bellagio Fountains are two of my favorite things to do each time I visit. In fact, I was watching Ocean’s 13 the other day and saw George Clooney and Brad Pitt in scene next to the fountains and I got a little urge to get out there again right away. I can’t wait and will have to start planning my next trip. I know that I have several offers from some of the casinos already, but probably should book it right away while I am thinking about it.
So, that’s my take and a few of my Las Vegas hotel reviews as far as how I feel about where to stay and what Las Vegas Hotel to choose when you visit. Enjoy your trip!
